Saturday Morning Fun Run at Roundhay Park

Successful Hyde Park event expands to Roundhay Park

This is a notice to all your fitness fanatics out there, as well as all you who are not quite fanatical but fancy improving your fitness, or even just going out for an early morning jog with a mate. The organisation known as ParkRun, which usually hold a weekly 5km run in Hyde Park in Leeds, have now announced they are expanding to Roundhay!

The first date has been confirmed as Saturday 23rd April at 9am and will run every Saturday after that. It is a 5km run within the park grounds and is marked out by signs and marshals. The starting point is halfway down Carriage Drive within the park, about 80 metres down from Mansion House.
The run is against the clock, so you can race yourself week by week improving on your Personal Best. However, there is no set level of fitness to join ParkRun so please come along and join in whatever your pace.

In order to participate in ParkRun you must register on their website to get a barcode, which you then present at the start of the run and away you go!

After the launch run on 23rd April, all participators will have the option to join in some group photos, before moving on to Napa on Street Lane for a well deserved breakfast (It’s Buy One Get One Free until 11am!) and have the opportunity to chat to other runners and race organisers to give any feedback and make some new friends.

A bit of fun

Another reason to join the run on 23rd April is to get dressed up! As its also St Georges Day, ParkRun is having a national pride fancy dress theme for all those who wish to participate – it’s not compulsory so don’t worry! The theme is to wear your national strip or just your countries colours. So whatever your nationality may be, come and show off your national pride!
